The Thomas Richard Wirth Papers include a 1982 drawing by Ira Joel Habner and an altered photo from the You Are Here series by Brian Buczak. There is also correspondence from writers and other artists including Carol Bergé, Stephen Sondheim, Michael Andre, David Rattray, Melvin Bernhardt, Joel Evans, May Wilson, and Lowell Nesbitt. The collection contains papers that Wirth wrote in college in Box 1 (folders 1-6) and correspondence in Box 1 (folders 7-38) and Boxes 2-7. Box 8 contains personal items, poetry written by Wirth, photographs, restricted correspondence, and calendars.

Thomas Richard Wirth was part of the art scene in New York City starting in the early 1960s. He was friends with a number of artists, actors, and writers and took part in the "mail art" movement in the 1970s and 1980s, both as a sender and a recepient.
